Jan Groover, kitchen utensils
Jan Groover uses common kitchen supplies (for example: knifes, forks, spatulas, bowls etc), putting them together to make them look mysterious and interesting to look at.
Jan Groover (American, 1943 – 2011) created her famous Kitchen Still Life in 1978 and 1979. Using a large-format camera, she transformed colanders, knives, spatulas and baking pans into objects of beauty that still hold a visual interest that transcends their common use.

ebi: using more mysterious angles with the camera like the one looking through the top of the spatula. Also using more reflection to create an illusion.

In this task I was required to take photos of fruits and vegetables in artificial light instead and focus the lens on specific bits of the fruit/vegetable. I learned how to capture the light in more mysterious and creative ways.

What helped me with the artificial light was i knew how to focus on specific bits of the food. For example, the pineapple from the top view

Photos joiners
David Hockney is connected to the Pop Art movement. This movement was interested in responding to Popular Culture
Hockney created photojoiners that consisted of photographs taken of the same object from different perspectives. The images were then collaged together to recreate the place, person or object even though the overall appearance may look distorted. This work connects with the cubist movement, one of Hockney's major aims.

Uta Barth Analysis
Uta Barth was born in 1958 and is a German-American photographer whose work addresses themes such as perception, optical illusion and non-place. Uta Barth creates about vision and perception as it is about the failure to see, the faith humans place in the mechanics of perception, and the precarious nature of perceptual habits. Uta said ''the camera taught me how to see'' Uta may have said this because now she can focus on things properly even when they are blurred and have a deeper look into how things are viewed. Her images portray freedom, they dont conform to ordinary shapes and she's escaping the normality

Ana Straže
I chose the photographer Ana Straže. She was born in 1982 Celje, Slovenia. In 2013, she earned a masters degree at Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana SI. Between 2013 and 2020, she presented her photographic projects in several group and solo exhibitions. She lives and works in Celje. Straže said “I present artistic expression through photography by including unique relation to the unknown and by doing so I do not wish to limit myself to various genres and subjects; however, my work is based on current inspiration. In my individual series, a world of fiction can be found, presenting the challenged reflection of everyday life. My subjects are simple, which proves the sole way of presenting the idea to the observer. The subjects are ambiguous, should they be surprising, unusual or ordinary, I enable the observer to create their own interpretation and their own stream of thoughts.” I feel Ana makes her work look creative so it can entertain and reach all audiences instead of just a few group of people.
In my set of photos, I decided to use an apple, an avocado and an orange. I put different coloured pins in them. Some around the silhouette of the food and some in the middle.

WWW: Something I had achieved was I got the details of the food and captured the light along with the shadows well
EBI: I could improve by focusing the camera on the apple more. Also, the pins could all be in a straight line when outlining the food.
